Our next meeting is this Monday, November 3 in the PLC. Food will be served at 7:00, and the meeting will begin at 7:30 PM.
I would like to thank each of you who helped out last Sunday for the Pancake Breakfast for Alberto’s family. The money is still coming in, and so far we have raised over $5,300. We are scheduling a night when we can present the check to Luisa, and it looks like it will be 11/12 at Ang’s house. This is another example of the generosity of our parish family, and the dedication we have to carrying on Fr. McGivney’s mission to help our member’s families in their time of need.
Last Monday Ken Brooke organized the first Memorial Prayer Service and Benediction for our fallen Knights and loved ones. Deacon John led us in the service, and it was a very touching night. On behalf of the Council, I have expressed our thanks to both Deacon John and Ken for their efforts, and I hope this is something we will make a yearly event.
Next weekend is the Holiday Bazaar when we will be kicking off our Keep Christ in Christmas car magnet sales. Vince Pusateri is chairing the magnet sales and will be looking for help working the table at the Bazaar and selling after all masses. Please let Vince know which masses you are able to help out with each weekend. At the meeting Monday, I would like to identify the charity(ies) that we want to support with proceedes from the magnet sales.
Also, next weekend we will be selling donuts after the Sunday morning masses. Please plan on helping out after mass.
The new American flag and Papal flag have arrived, and we will try to replace them this week, possibly at the meeting. We are also talking with the Boy Scouts to plan a flag retirement ceremony to properly dispose of the flag. More detail will follow, but most likely the retirement will be in the new year.
We have been asked by the Music Ministry to help them out again buy pouring
On November 10, there is a 1st Degree at St. Brendan Council. So far we have at least 5 gentlemen who are planning to attend, and 5 more we are trying to schedule. If you have any potential candidates, please turn in a form 100 so can have them read in. The upcoming 1st Degrees in our District are: 11/10 St. Brendan, 12/8 St. Monica; 1/20 St. Benedict, 2/2 Good Sheppard, 3/9 St. Brendan, 4/13 St. Monica, 5/18 St. Benedict, and 6/1 Good Sheppard.
I will be placing an order soon for new name badges. We should be supplying them at council expense for new members. If you need a badge, please let me know how you want your name to appear, and if it is a new or a replacement.
