Brother Knights,

Here is a quick summary of what was discussed at our meeting on Monday.  As always, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or general observation, and check out our website for the full calendar for the year and officers contact information.

1)      Pancake Breakfast for Alberto Figuerdo

a)      We will be hosting a pancake breakfast to help raise money for Alberto’s family on 10/26/08 after the 7:30, 8:45, and 10:45 masses.  The family is in need of some serious financial assistance to ensure they do not lose their house.  I have asked our District Deputy requesting he contact other councils in the state requesting help.

b)      We will need a lot of volunteers to help out that day to set up, cook, and clean up.  The Women’s Guild will be helping out with serving and working the front door.

c)      I have also been contacted by a Knight who works with the state.  He was contacted by a builder/architect (not sure which) who does office buildings in Atlanta who knew Alberto and heard the family is in need.  He is interested in helping raise money for the family as well.  As I know more, I will pass it on.

2)      Knights Closet

a)      Nick and I will be meeting at the church this Saturday (10/11) at 7:00 AM to clean out the closet and build more shelves.  We could use a few more guys to help clear everything out, build the shelves, organize our supplies, and put everything back.  If you are available for a few hours this Saturday morning, please let Nick and I know

3)      RSVP Donut Sales

a)      Mike Foutch will be picking up the donuts this Sunday to sell after the morning masses.  We have had great success the past 2 months and there is nothing to suggest we would not have the same level of support this time.  Please plan on helping out after your morning mass this Sunday

4)      Memorial Prayer Service

a)      Ken Brooke is talk with Deacon John about doing a Memorial Prayer Service and Benediction for our deceased Knights on either Monday 10/20 or 10/27 at 7PM or 7:30 PM.  More information to follow

5)      Halloween Hoe-Down 10/25/08

a)      We have been asked to help cook and serve for this event.  Nick has a few volunteers, but will probably need a couple more.  Contact Nick if you are interested in helping out (marrickmachine@aol.com or 404-434-0067)

6)      Keep Christ in Christmas car magnets

a)      Vince Pusateri (404) 285-5188 or vince_jp@hotmail.com) has volunteered to chair this program.  Starting the weekend of 11/8 we will start selling magnets after all masses.  Please contact Vince to let him know which mass you will be able to help sell.

b)      Also, talk to your co-workers, neighbors, family, friends about the magnets.  This is not just a Catholic message, but a very strong Christian message that all Christians should support.  We have had a lot of success with members selling outside the church.  Talk to Vince if you need some that you  can sell on your own.  The cost this year is $5.00 a magnet.

7)      Holiday Bazaar

a)      We will need a few volunteers to help man our table to sell the magnets.  The Bazaar usually goes from around 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Typically we break the day down into 2 shifts and need 2 men for each shift.  Contact Nick or Vince if you are able to help

8)      Flags

a)      The US and Papal flags are in need of replacement.  John has talked with Fr. Paul about replacing them, and we approved funds to buy replacement flags.  One Sunday in November (probably the 16th) we will have an Honor Guard to replace the flags.  Also we will contact the Boy Scouts about doing an official flag retirement ceremony and announcing to the Parrish that then can drop off old flags they may have to be properly disposed of.

9)      Holiday Pops concert 12/6/08

a)      We have been asked by the Music Ministry to help them out again buy pouring Champagne for the reception that follows their Christmas concert. We will need 2 guys to leave the concert early to start pouring, and about 4 more to come back and help serve after the event.

b)      Please save this date on your calendar

10)  Activities to help support Teens trip to Rome

a)      Ang had a meeting with Fr. Paul on Monday to discuss some activities that he would like the Knights to help support raising money for the Teens trip to Rome next year.  We will be asked to cook, serve, and tend bar for both.  More details and requests for help will follow, but please mark these dates on your calendar

i)        12/13/08 Crazy Bingo Night

ii)       2/21/09 Mardi Gras Night
