Brother Knights,
Well I survived my trip, and more important so did Judy and the kids. I am sorry I missed the 1st Degree on the 16th, but I am glad to welcome Michael Turchin as our newest member. Please join me in welcoming Michael to our Council.
Our next meeting is this Monday, October 6th in the PLC. Food will be served at 7:00, and the meeting will begin at 7:30 PM.
This has been a sad week for our council with losing Alberto Figuerdo. I would like to thank all the Knights who were able to attend the funeral and especially those who took part in the Honor Guard. Alberto was a strong supporter of the Knights, and his widow requested the Guard knowing how much it would mean to Alberto. Besides his wife, he left behind 3 young children, ages 2-7.
At times like this it is important to remember that the fundamental reason Fr. McGivney founded the order was to help provide for the families when the father died. I will be proposing that we hold a fundraiser, like we did for the Ramos family, to help provide financial assistance to the family. I am open to ideas/suggestions on what we can do, but I would like to plan something this month.
This is a busy weekend for us, with the Ministry Fair and Taste of St. Benedicts. We should be all set for tomorrow, but we still need people to help cover the following Masses this weekend for the Ministry Fair: Saturday 4:00, Sat. 5:30, Sun. 12:30, and Sun. 5:00. This is an important event for us to spread the word of what our Council does, what it means to be a Knight, and recruit members. I will set up the table Saturday. The table will have a sign up sheet, contact cards for us to hand out to prospects with my phone # and email, fliers/brochures in English and Spanish, etc. All I need you to do is talk with our fellow parishioners about why you joined, what it means to you to be a Knight, and answer their questions. Please let me know which mass you can cover. It should only take about 15 minutes of your time.
