Brother Knights,

Our next meeting is Monday, May 18^th in the PLC.  We are also hosting a 1^st Degree this night, and are expecting 3 new members to our Council:  Patrick Spring, Thomas McGrath, and Leonard Contardo.  We are asking the degree team to be there at 6:30, candidates to be there by 7:00, and the meeting will start at 7:30.  The meeting will be in the PLC and the antechamber will be in a classroom in the new RE building, probably #12.  If there is somebody who is interested in joining, you can bring them Monday and we will read their form 100 in right before the Degree. 

I want to thank everyone who was able to attend our last meeting and view the presentation on the new building given by Fr. Paul and the developer.  As Fr. Paul announced in last weeks bulletin, he has asked the Knights to help drive this project.  This is will be a very challenging and exciting project for us over the next few years.  Angelo will be providing updates over the next few meetings on exactly what our responsibility will be.  I hope I can count on all your support. 

Nominations for new officers for the 2009-10 Fraternal Year were presented by the Nominating Committee.  Additional nominations will be accepted at this meeting, and the night of the elections at our June 1^st meeting.  Here is the slate that was presented:

On May 31^st, St. Benedict will be hosting a traveling youth choir on their way to Florida.  They will be singing at the Saturday Mass and the 8:45 Mass that Sunday.  Fr. Paul has asked the Knights to prepare breakfast for them that Sunday for them.  Joe Losurdowill be chairing this and will need all your help.  Please keep this day open on your calendar. 

Rick Ooten, and his team, has started working with the Red Cross Coordinator, Lisa Samuel, who works with St. Benedict organizing the blood drives.  Support of the blood drives has dwindled lately, which add a significant burden at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  They rely on the blood donated at St. Benedict to perform surgeries the following week.  Lately, many surgeries have needed to be rescheduled due to the low levels of donors.  The council has agreed to work with her to help increase awareness and support of the Blood Drives.  To help with this, Lisa will be giving a presentation to our council at the June 1^st meeting regarding the Red Cross and the need for donors. 

There is a 2^nd Degree coming up on May 30^th at All Saints in Dunwoody.  So far, Jamieson Cannata and James Barket are planning on participating.  If you are a 1^st Degree member, and are ready to take the next step on your journey to Knighthood, please let me know.  The next 3^rd Degree will be on June 6^th at Good Sheppard in Cumming.  Again, if you are interested in attending, please let me know.

Please remember to set up a time to talk with Joe Noa, our Field Agent, about the various insurance products the Knights has to offer (Whole life, term, annuities, long term care, etc.).  During the troubling financial climate, the Knights Products continue to be among the highest ranked in the industry and are showing strong stability.  There is a new product that is being offered to all Knights which is a new member annuity.  In addition to being offered to new Knights, it is being offered to any member who is not currently part of the insurance program.  Set up a time to talk with Joe, as he can provide more information on this and all the other offerings.
