Brother Knights,

Our next meeting is tomorrow, 3/2/09, in the PLC.  Food will be at 7:00 PM and the meeting will begin at 7:30 PM.

Our first week of the Fish Fry is behind us, and week 1 was a very good week.  We served 278 people.  My heartfelt thanks to Mike Dawkins (who is becoming a Hush Puppy Master Chef), James Barkett, Bob Zopf, Mike Foutch, Rick Ooten, Greg McGrail, Michael Turchin, Steve Campbell, and John Meurer for their hard work.  One down, and 4 to go.  So far the following Knights have signed up for next week:  Nick Marrick, Mike Dawkins, Bob Zopf, Mike Foutch, Lou Coroso, Mike Sullivan, Greg McGrail, Bill Magyar, and Michael Turchin.

Next Sunday at the 10:45 mass, we will be presenting Bill O’Neal the Knight of the Year award for our Council to recognize all he has done for us over the years.  Please plan on attending this mass with your family if possible, to help show support to Bill. 

At this meeting we will be continuing our discussion on the proposed addendums to the by-laws concerning the Relief Fund and Building Fund, with the possibility of it coming up for a vote.  There have been some very passionate discussions around the proposed changes, and I encourage you all to attend to make sure your voice is heard. 

Next Saturday is when the Council has signed up to help with the Habitat House.  If you have signed up, please plan on being in the church parking lot no later than 7:00 AM so you can fill out the paperwork and we can car pool down together.  Work will go on rain or shine.  So far myself, Mark Von Plinksy, Al Kovalchik, Mike Sullivan, Bill Magyar, Mike Foutch, and Michael Turchin have signed up to help.  If you are interested in giving us a hand, please let me know.

Bob Zopf has been in contact with a local company about ordering council shirts, and he will be giving a report at the meeting and will start taking orders.  Following are the prices.  If you are interested in a shirt and can not attend the meeting, please contact Bob directly (678-703-1590 or bobzopf75@yahoo.com).  Tentative prices are:  t-shirts ($10-12), Golf shirts, ($21-23) and Long Sleeve button down shirts ($23-25). 

St. Brendan’s has changed the dates for their 1^st Degrees for the remainder of the Fraternal Year.  They have replaced the degree previously scheduled for Mar 9 is cancelled and 3 Sat mornings have been added: Mar 14, Apr 11 and May 9.  For the Saturday Degrees, Candidates to arrive by 9:00 AM, Degree to start at 9:30 AM.  We have several candidates who we need to get in.  If you have sponsored any, please check these dates to see if they can make it.  If so, please let me know.

Here is a quick summary of our other upcoming activities:

1. Habitat for Humanity 3/7/09 – I have signed the Council up for the 3^rd week, Saturday March 7^th, to go down as a group to help out with this years house.  There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting.  According to Habitat's schedule we should be finishing the siding and starting the painting both inside and out
2. St. Patrick’s Day Party 03/14/09 – We are hosting the parish St. Patrick’s Day party again this year.  Ang Sampona will be providing more details shortly and looking for volunteers.  Please mark this on your calendar.  This is a fundraiser for our Council.
3. Flag Retirement Ceremony with Boy Scouts 3/29/09 – Bob Zopf is coordinating this with the Scout troop and the 4^th Degree Assembly for an honor Guard.  It ceremony will take place after the 12:30 mass.
4. Pancake Breakfast to raise money for the Ultra-Sound Project 4/18/09 – I talked with Fr. Paul about doing a pancake breakfast fundraiser to help raise funds for Supreme and the State’s campaign to raise money to purchase ultrasound machines for 2 crisis pregnancy centers in GA.  The format will be the same as previous pancake breakfasts.  .
5. 4^th Degree Exemplification 4/25/09 at St Francis de Sales Church in Mableton, GA -- This is open to any 3rd Degree member who has been a Knight for at least 6 months.  If you are interested, please let Lou and I know
